Beer Style

Explosive Belgian Tripel (some say it’s more an American styled Tripel, “some” being American beer enthusiasts most of the time).

The Beer

Dulle Teve is a West-Flemish term - more juicy Belgian dialect, most of the time only understood by those who speak it. And when we talk Belgian beer, the West produces some of the best…With Westvleteren, Sint-Bernardus, De Halve Maan, Dolle Brouwers and Struise Brouwers just to name a few of the more famous western representatives.

Dulle Teve translates as 'Mad Bitch', this translation was initially banned by the the US They had to sell it as Tripel as the name was considered offensive. In Belgium a Dulle Teve is a very annoying, euhm well, bitch…

The original artwork of the label was designed by Peter Six, an artist from Bruges. This is in contrast to the rest of the Dolle Brouwers beer labels that usually get designed by Kris Herteleer (the brewer) himself.

The story goes that a café/restaurant owner from Bruges was in a meeting with the brewer, discussing the creation of his own beer. As the meeting continued, the owner’s wife had enough and started calling him on the phone, bugging her husband that he had to hurry up and come home.

When he reacted with the words: ”you’re just a mad bitch”, the brewer said he found the name and all he had to do now was brew the beer… It got brewed for the first time in 1993 and the rest is history.

      Character, Tastes & Aromas

Refreshing, crisp and smooth beer, has the typical, slightly bitter Dolle Brouwers taste. Due to the alcohol percentage this wonderful beer can be rather treacherous.

Nicely carbonated with a strong aroma and fruity hints that reminds one of citrus, apple and pear. Just a simple, honest, straight-up good Belgian tripel with some spice and a good kick of alcohol.

Very nice beer to have with mussels and fries. Also very suitable to have with stews. Pairs up great with abbey style cheeses.

        Keeping and Storage

No need keeping this beer for longer than a period of 1 year. This certainly isn’t a beer that benefits from ageing.
