The Beer

Brasserie de Silly enjoys a reputation as a traditional family brewery producing honest Belgian specialty beers - the Scotch de Silly or La Divine for example.

However, this brewery, with roots going back to the 1800s, also markets less traditional beers...

The Green Killer IPA, launched in 2014, provides a fine example. This blonde beer will amaze you with its splendid balance between powerful aromas and flavours of malt and hops.

This is the second beer in Brasserie de Silly’s “killer” range, following the Pink Killer into battle.

Dry hopping towards the end of the brewing process gives an extra hop boost to the Green Killer IPA. Citrus and pepper are dominant touches in this beer’s strong scents.

Green Killer IPA provides a solid bitterness, especially towards the end. The dry finish perfectly complements an earlier malty taste.

This is a speciality beer aimed at people who like bitter. Nevertheless, this full-mouthed IPA has a very balanced character. The bitterness never turns into aggression but it is sufficiently powerful.

Alcohol

6.5 % ABV

Fermentation

A top-fermented beer with dry hopping.

Ingredients

Green Killer IPA is brewed with water, yeast, barley malt and four different hop varieties.

Colour & Transparency

Green Killer IPA shows up blond in the glass underneath a cloudy white head of froth. Slight pearlisation occurs.

Make sure that you use the proper serving glass, which must be washed up by hand to obtain the perfect results.

    Serving Temperature

    4 – 6 °C / 39° F – 43 °F

    Serving Glass

This beer is served in an elegant, tulip-shaped glass on a high stem. The glass narrows towards the top. This ensures that the aromas are beautifully preserved and the frothy head holds its own for quite a while.

      Character, Tastes & Aromas

The hops account for powerful citrus aromas and gives the beer its peppery impressions.

Green Killer IPA is deliciously bitter, with a dry finish that flows seamlessly from its malty taste.

        Culinary

Try Green Killer with spicy dishes from Eastern cuisines. This IPA provides a good counter-balance and makes a perfect partner for well-spiced curries.

As with any IPA, we recommend caution when using this beer as a cooking ingredient.

The hop bitterness tends to dominate when used in meals or sauces.

        Keeping and Storage

This beer will keep in the bottle for 24 months and for nine months on tap. It isn’t a good idea to store this beer for a longer than the brewery recommends.

This style of beer, with hop aromas at centre stage, is best consumed when as fresh as possible. Its hoppy character will diminish over time.

Always store bottles upright in a cool, dry and dark environment.

        Availability

        Bottle ✔       On Tap

Green Killer is available bottled (33cl) and on tap (20 litres). In common with the Pink Killer, which is predominantly an export beer, this beer is readily available outside Belgium.

Within Belgium, high-end beer stores and supermarkets or specialty beer cafés are the best places to get a taste of this Green Killer.
